Welcome!

The Babcock Demon Incubator (BDI) operates under the Babcock School's Angell Center for Entrepreneurship. The BDI's mission is to foster entrepreneurial education at Wake Forest, increase the number and quality of growth-oriented early stage ventures in the Triad, support intellectual property commercialization activities at Wake Forest, and contribute to an entrepreneurial spirit in the local community.

The BDI supports new ventures with both resident and non-resident client models. For ventures needing office space, the BDI can provide a range of facilities depending on needs. These facilities include office space, broadband internet, phone service, and conference facilities. Tenants are admitted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Each business that uses the incubator has approximately 12 months to grow and find a permanent location. Both resident and non-resident clients have access to a wide range of business and mentoring resources.

The BDI seeks to launch companies that have the potential to create significant economic impact in the Triad through jobs and business investment. Among companies housed in the incubator are winners of the Piedmond Triad Entrepreneurial Network's annual growth accelerator competition. The BDI is one component of Wake Forest's Business Development Initiative, which is designed to support the local business community.

The BDI is developing into a premier university-based incubator with its own unique business model. In addition to playing an instrumental role in helping launch new ventures, the BDI serves as a living laboratory for students and faculty.
