Farewell Dinner in New Delhi

This photo was taken our very last night in India. Here, we are with a large number of our New Delhi-based alumni, current students, and prospective students.

Among our group, the gamut of emotion was likely present when this photo was taken -- excitement, fulfillment, memories that will probably last a lifetime.

And also a desire to return home.

The Marble Artisans of Agra

This young man is carving out marble and replacing it with semi-precious stones.

This practice was done on the Taj Majal. The Taj Mahal is not only a beautiful structure, but its marble inlay work provides a perspective unnoticed until seen up close.

The Agra marble artisans are decendents of those who did the original marble work on the Taj in the 17th Century.

Photo with Borrowers

We wanted to get a group photo taken with the actual SKS borrowers. The borrowers, however, would only consent to being photographed with the women in our group.

The Village Mosque

Here, you can see the village mosque from our visit to the village supported by SKS microfinance.

This particular village was largely Muslim.

A Different View of the Taj Mahal

Here, you can see that the four minarets of the Taj Mahal are leaning outwards. Three degrees to be exact. This is to protect the tomb in the event of substantial seismic activity -- the minarets will fall outwards, not onto the tomb.

From this view, one can also notice the intricate marble inlay work.

From any angle, any time of day, or any other perspective, this is truly a sight to behold.
