Seminar: Day 1
Today began with lots of worry. I woke up at about 6am and it was pouring rain. Many of the seminar participants had to travel great distances over muddy roads on the back of motorcycle taxis. You can understand why I was worried. However, much to my surprise, everyone made the trip. The sheer determination and enthusiasm for learning led them through harsh conditions and long uncomfortable rides to our seminar. We could learn quite a lot from the positive and hopeful attidute that these business owners bring, even when faced with many challenging and unpleasant situations.
The seminar began with a speech by a government official representing the small business sector. It was quite an honor to have him in attendance. In the beginning, seminar participants were reserved. However, after a few ice breaking games and discussions focused on building relationships and the importance of active participation, the participants quickly rose to the occation.
The business owners at our seminar are some of the smartest and most determined people I have ever met. The "Ask the Experts" problem solving session was the best I have seen. This session focused on the audience (the experts) helping each other solve problems that they are currently facing.
We could not have asked for a better start to the seminar. I have no doubt that tomorrow will be even better. I have attached some pictures below.
